It's oh so quiet...

All businesses will go through periods where things quiet down for one reason or another. Maybe you’re a seasonal business, so you have most of your sales during certain times of the year like Christmas, Easter etc. Or perhaps it’s the period after Christmas where everyone has overspent and sales take a dip. Whatever the reason, everybody at some point or another will have a quiet period in their business.

Now you can deal with this in one of two ways. You can panic and run around like a headless chicken or you can use this time to your advantage and actually get ahead. You can do all those things that you’ve been wanting to do but are always complaining that you don’t have the time to do. Imagine finally having an empty to do list!

So below is a list of things that you could think about doing, just to keep in your back pocket for whenever the time comes that you actually do have some time on your hands:

1. Respond to all the emails you’ve been meaning to respond to

2. Update your website or build one if you haven’t got one

3. Create new products lines

4. List new products on Etsy or your selling pages

5. Research new selling platforms

6. Create a blog or add to your blog

7. Plan and schedule your social media posts

8. Research expanding onto other social media platforms

9. Get your accounts in order (I can’t believe I left this one till near the end!)

10. Get really organised and get your self-assessment done now (or your yearend, basically whatever accounting thing you’ve been putting off, get it done in advance)

Hopefully this will have inspired you to think about the tasks that you’ve been meaning to do, that you haven’t been able to because you’ve never had the time. Next time you experience a bit of quiet in your business, whack on a cup of tea, get yourself a chocolate biscuit, stick on some tunes, and get cracking on your list!
